On time, On Budget, On Specification

Managing multi-disciplinary teams, brought together to deliver a particular project or programme, often outside of normal line-management roles is a highly effective way of ensuring focus.   From product development, marketing campaigns, operational change, system change, through to close down, programme/project management is used more and more in all business situations.   But how many are delivered on time, to specification, and budget?

Project and Programme management is a professional discipline independent of the subject of the programme being delivered.  And if executed effectively it can have a huge positive impact leveraging the strength of everyone in the team.  Get it wrong and it can bring down the performance of the team, with delay, additional cost and missed specification.

Ignetica personnel have considerable experience in successfully delivering complex programmes in disciplines as diverse as large-scale organisation change through to new business launches.   We use a well-developed programme management methodology (PMM) ensuring effective programme specification, planning, implementation and management to deliver programme on time, specification and budget.

With PMM establishing a clear delivery specification is the starting point, before building an effective and realistic project plan, identifying the network or activities, dependencies and risks.  Monitoring delivery against the plan, and resolution of the issues arising, is key during the implementation phase.   A phase in which we also advocate clear, tiered reporting, with simple RAG (Red-Amber-Green) indicators at the top level, linking though to detail issue, resolution or mitigation plans at the bottom.
